YAEL RENOUS
Hello :) I am creative technologist, software developer, and new media artist.I personally design and develop all the technology behind my work, from microcontrollers and sensors to large-scale audiovisual installations. I’m driven by curiosity for emerging tech and love pushing tools into unexpected applications, always seeking new ways for digital and physical worlds to collide. For me, the magic lies in crafting tangible experiences that hide complex tech beneath the surface—turning invisible systems into moments of surprise and delight.

IRL is a multidisciplinary new media performance combining dance, live generated audio syth, and interactive technologies to examine sexuality and embodiment in the age of digital connection. Showcased in Berlin as part of the NYU Winter Show, it unfolds in three acts, integrating generative digital art such as algorithmic collages and a custom mobile app distributed to the audience, enabling viewers to swipe right or left on the live performer and merging physical presence with dating-app mechanics. The piece culminates in an interactive segment inspired by pottery, where a motion-tracked particle system allows the dancer to sculpt virtual forms in real time, shaping the invisible space between themselves and a digital “other.” The work employs real-time projection mapping, custom software for mobile audience engagement, and motion capture, creating an immersive exploration of desire, intimacy, and the shifting boundaries of physical and virtual connection.
